Dr. Rick Kohltfarber was born on the Kona side of the main island of Hawaii. He spent his childhood working with animals on his family’s dairy farm in Oregon and their goat farm in Nevada. With the passion for animal care growing stronger every year, he decided to purse a lifelong career as a veterinarian. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from University of Nevada at Reno, Dr. Kohltfarber obtained his DVM degree at Western University of Health Sciences, California. Dr. Kohltfarber excelled himself in Small Animal Medicine and fostered a special interest in orthopedic corrective procedures. He also devoted a significant amount of time in mastering the art of minimally invasive techniques. Beyond being an excellent surgeon, Dr. Kohltfarber enjoys playing basketball, mountain bike riding, hiking and camping. As a new edition to the family, Olive, a rescued Brussels Griffon-Pug mix, fills up Dr. Kohltfarber’s daily schedule.
